Spring is in the air!

As most Chicagoland residents know, there are only two seasons in our region: winter and construction. And construction season is upon us once again.

Crews will start to mobilize in early April to complete minor punch list work, complete any remaining landscape restoration, and paint and complete the new retaining wall along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard. The Contractor does not anticipate any major inconveniences to the traveling public during this stage of work.

Motorists are urged to pay close attention to orange signs and flaggers in work zones, obey posted speed limits, avoid cell phone use, and be alert for construction workers and equipment. We thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we near the end of this important infrastructure project.

The new pavement markings are installed on Nippersink Blvd.

The contractors continued work on the street lighting poles, installed the new pavement markings along Nippersink Boulevard (including the new dedicated bike lanes), and they continued to clean the project up.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractors plan to install the new signs along Nippersink Boulevard and complete the general clean up work for the season.

The final paving is complete on Nippersink Blvd.

The contractors completed paving the second and final layer of asphalt on Nippersink Boulevard. They also completed the landscape restoration, removed the detour and traffic control devices, and began some punch list work as well as general clean up.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractors plan to continue the electrical work on the street lighting poles, install the new pavement markings along Nippersink Boulevard, and continue the general clean-up work.

New streetlights are installed along Nippersink Blvd.

The contractors completed pavement patching in various locations, adjusted structure frames to finish grade in the roadway, and installed the new street light poles along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractors plan to continue the electrical work on the street lighting poles, pave the second/final layer of asphalt, and install the new pavement markings along Nippersink Boulevard. They also anticipate begin general clean-up work.

Roadway work continues along the east side of Nippersink Blvd.

The weather this week hampered the contractor’s production this week, but they still completed placing the new aggregate base for the roadway and sidewalk and they framed and poured the new street light foundations along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to complete the new concrete sidewalk and pave the first layer of new asphalt along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard. They also anticipate completing the remaining work for the new street light controller.

Framing for new curb & gutter along Nippersink Blvd.

The contractors completed excavating and placing new aggregate base for the roadway and they framed and poured the new curb & gutter along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to complete the new concrete sidewalk and pave the first layer of new asphalt along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard. They also anticipate completing the remaining work for the new street light foundations.

The contractors completed the installation of numerous reinforcement bars, and then they framed and poured concrete for the remaining sections of the new retaining wall along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to remove the framing on the remainder of the retaining wall and continue the remaining sidewalk along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard. They also anticipate completing the remaining work at the Metra Station.

Pouring the first sections of the Nippersink Blvd. retaining wall

The contractors completed the installation of numerous reinforcement bars, and then they framed and poured concrete for sections of the new retaining wall along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to complete the framing and the concrete pouring on the remainder of the retaining wall. They also anticipate completing the asphalt work at the Metra Station.

The contractors completed the installation of the anchors and the installation of the wall drains, and they began installation of the new numerous reinforcement bars and framing the new retaining wall along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to complete the framing and the first concrete pour on the retaining wall. They also anticipate completing the work at the Metra Station.
