Construction work began this week

Construction began this week along Nippersink Boulevard with the contractor setting up the traffic control signs and establishing the northbound detour. The contractor also completed the pavement removal along the west side of Nippersink Boulevard, from Oak Street to Ernest Avenue.

Next, week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to deliver materials to the jobsite, saw cutting sections to be removed, and beginning installation of the proposed storm sewer improvements.

Traffic has been modified to one-way southbound along Nippersink Boulevard between Rolland Place and Oak Street, and traffic will remain two-way along Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Rolland Place for improved access to some of the local businesses as shown in the above image.

Motorists should expect minor delays as the work gets going along Nippersink Boulevard. Please be aware of construction workers and equipment when traveling through the work zone.

Traffic Pattern Update

In order to begin the utility and roadway improvements proposed for Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Oak Street, the contractor implemented an updated traffic pattern yesterday.

Traffic has been modified to one-way southbound along Nippersink Boulevard between Rolland Place and Oak Street. Traffic will remain two-way along Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Rolland Place. Access to local businesses such as Tire Depot, Biglow & Company Insurance, Prunella’s Flower Shoppe, and Shee Goo Rolled Ice Cream are currently accessible to northbound traffic from Grand Avenue. 

Northbound Nippersink Boulevard through traffic will utilize the posted detour of Grand Avenue to Forest Avenue to Oak Street to access southbound Nippersink Boulevard as shown in the image above.

In addition, the existing vehicle parking along the west side of Nippersink Boulevard between Oak Street and Rolland Place will be closed.  Motorists who typically utilizes these spaces are encouraged to use the parking lots on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard or the roadway parking south of Rolland Place. 

Motorists should continue to expect minor delays along Nippersink Boulevard as progress continues. As always, please be alert when traveling through the work zones.

Construction work on Nippersink Blvd. begins tomorrow

Beginning tomorrow, the contractor will establish a work zone on the west side of Nippersink Boulevard.  The existing vehicle parking along the west side of Nippersink Boulevard between Oak Street and Rolland Place will be closed.  Motorists who typically utilize these spaces are encouraged to use the parking lots on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard or the roadway parking south of Rolland Place.  Access to these facilities will be maintained during the duration of the initial Stage 1A.

The construction will require the closure of the northbound lane of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Oak Street so a detour will be setup to guide northbound traffic to utilize the posted detour of Grand Avenue to Forest Avenue to Oak Street to access southbound Nippersink Boulevard.

Motorists should expect lane closures and minor delays as the work progresses along Orchard Lane. Please be aware of construction flaggers as well as construction workers and equipment when traveling through the work zone.

Nippersink Blvd. construction begins this week with a modified traffic pattern.

Construction work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, February 23rd, weather permitting. The construction will require the closure of the northbound lane of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Oak Street.  A detour will be set up to guide northbound traffic to Forest Avenue.  This closure will be set up throughout the duration of the project, which is scheduled to be completed in September 2021.

During the next couple of weeks, the Contractor will establish a work zone on the west side of Nippersink Boulevard as shown in the image above.  The existing vehicle parking along the west side of Nippersink Boulevard between Oak Street and Rolland Place will be closed.  Motorists who typically utilize these spaces are encouraged to use the parking lots on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard or the roadway parking south of Rolland Place.  Access to these facilities will be maintained during the duration of the initial Stage 1A.

Motorists should expect to see construction equipment and workers as the work commences along Nippersink Boulevard. Please be aware of these workers as well as the equipment and traffic control measures when traveling through the work zone.

Construction begins next week on Nippersink Blvd.

Initial work will start with surveying and construction staking. Next, the contractors plan to establish a construction work zone and implement a traffic detour for northbound traffic on Nippersink Boulevard. Then they plan to begin removal of the existing pavement along Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Oak Street and begin the proposed storm sewer improvements.

Motorists should expect to see construction equipment and workers as the work commences along Nippersink Boulevard. Please be aware of these workers as well as the equipment and traffic control measures when traveling through the work zone.

On behalf of the Village of Fox Lake, we would like to welcome you to the project website for the Nippersink Boulevard Construction project. This 0.3-mile roadway reconstruction and streetscape project will be completed along Nippersink Boulevard from Grand Avenue to Oak Street

This roadway reconstruction project is part of the Village of Fox Lake’s continued initiative to improve the infrastructure throughout the community and is necessary to improve the driving surface, stormwater management, functionality, and reduce future maintenance costs of the roadway.

Construction commencement is scheduled to begin Monday, February 15, 2021, weather permitting. Please use caution when traveling through the construction work zone, and be alert for workers and construction equipment.

As with any construction project, there will be inconveniences at times and we thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation throughout the duration of this project.
