Progress on the new Nippersink Blvd. retaining wall

The contractors continued anchor, wall drain, and backfilling work on the new retaining wall along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard, and they also continued the proposed improvements at the Metra Station by framing and pouring new curb & gutter.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to continue work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard as well as continue work at the Metra Station.

Motorists should expect minor delays as the roadway work progresses along Nippersink Boulevard.  Please be aware of construction workers and equipment when traveling through the work zone.

Metra Station improvements along Nippersink Blvd.

The contractors continued work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard, and they also began the proposed improvements at the Metra Station.

Work on the Nippersink Blvd. retaining wall continues

The contractors continued work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard by drilling tie back anchors and welding brackets to connect the anchors to the piling previously installed.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to continue work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard, and possibly begin some improvements at the Metra Station.

Traffic Pattern Update

Nippersink Boulevard remains open to southbound traffic between Rolland Place and Oak Street. Effective this evening, Nippersink Boulevard will be open to two-way traffic along Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Rolland Place to access businesses. Diagonal parking will be available along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard. 

Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Oak Street is an active work zone and pedestrians should use caution when walking in the area. Please be aware of the approximate two-inch step along the curb adjacent to the pavement. In addition, motorists should continue to expect minor delays along Nippersink Boulevard as progress continues.

Sidewalk work at the Grand Ave. intersection is complete

The contractor completed pouring the new curb & gutter and concrete sidewalk at the southwest and northeast corners of Nippersink Boulevard and Grand Avenue.

Due to a delay in the contractor’s ability to acquire specific components for the construction of the retaining wall as a result of a national material shortage, it is anticipated that there will not be any work along Nippersink Boulevard next week.

Motorists should continue to exercise caution when driving through the work zone along Nippersink Boulevard.

The Nippersink Blvd. retaining wall improvements continue

The contractors continued work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard by welding connecters and brackets on the previously installed piling. They also completed removing the existing curb & gutter and concrete sidewalk and began framing for the new work at the southwest corner of Nippersink Boulevard and Grand Avenue.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to pour the curb & gutter and sidewalk sections at the southwest corner of Nippersink Boulevard and Grand Avenue. They also plan to continue work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

The contractors will not be working along Nippersink Boulevard on Monday, July 5th in observance of Independence Day.

Sidewalk improvements at Nippersink Blvd. & Grand Ave.

The contractors continued the sidewalk installation at the northwest and northeast corners of Nippersink Boulevard and Grand Avenue as well as the southeast corner of Rolland Place and Nippersink Boulevard. They also continued excavation work and installing the underdrain for the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to complete the remaining sidewalk sections at Nippersink Boulevard and Grand Avenue. They also plan to continue work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Retaining wall work along Nippersink Blvd. continues

The contractors completed the sidewalk removal at the northwest and northeast corners of Nippersink Boulevard and Grand Avenue. They also continued excavation work and installing the timber lagging for the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to pour additional gapped sidewalk sections along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Rolland Place. They also plan to continue work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

The piling work for the new retaining wall along Nippersink Blvd. is complete

The contractors poured the additional sections of the proposed sidewalk along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard from Oak Street to 37 Nippersink Boulevard, portions of the sidewalk from Grand Avenue to Rolland Place, and they completed the new curb & gutter at the southeast corner of Nippersink Boulevard and Rolland Place. They also completed the piling work for the new retaining wall, and they continued work on the proposed street lighting.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to pour additional sidewalk sections gapped along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Rolland Place. They also plan to continue work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.
