Work is progressing on the east side of Nippersink Blvd.

The contractors poured the additional sections of the proposed curb & gutter along a portion of the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Ernest Avenue, and they excavated, installed aggregate base, and poured section of the proposed sidewalk along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard. They also continued work on the retaining wall piling and the proposed street lighting.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to pour additional sections of the proposed sidewalk along a portion of the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Ernest Avenue. They also plan to complete work on the retaining wall piling and continue work on the proposed street lighting.

Contractors pour new curb & gutter on the east side of Nippersink Blvd.

The contractors poured the majority of the proposed curb & gutter along a portion of the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Ernest Avenue. They also began work on the piling for the new retaining wall and poured foundations for the proposed street lighting.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to pour additional sections of the proposed curb & gutter along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Ernest Avenue. They also plan to continue work on the retaining wall piling and work on the proposed street lighting.

Retaining wall work begins today

The contractors will begin work on the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard this week. This work will require the use of some specialized equipment and as a result the contractor will need to close some of the Metra parking stalls both north of the Metra train station on the west side of Nippersink Boulevard and in the commuter lot on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard as shown in the above image. This work is anticipated to take approximately four to six weeks to complete.

Contractors prepare for new curb & gutter on the east side of Nippersink Blvd.

The contractors completed installing the new aggregate roadway base, framed the proposed curb & gutter, and began to install street lighting conduit along a portion of the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Ernest Avenue.

The contractor completed the removal of the existing pavement and sidewalk, completed the proposed roadway excavation, and began installing the new aggregate roadway base along a portion of the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Ernest Avenue. They also framed and poured the proposed curb & gutter along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard from Oak Street to the retaining wall.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to complete the installation of the new roadway aggregate base and also frame and pour the proposed curb & gutter along a portion of the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Ernest Avenue.

Last week, the contractor completed the proposed roadway excavation, installed the new aggregate roadway base, and installed the proposed underdrain system along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard from Oak Street to the retaining wall.

This week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to:

  • Remove the existing pavement and begin the proposed roadway excavation along a portion of the east side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Ernest Avenue.
  • Frame and pour the proposed curb & gutter along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard from Oak Street to the retaining wall.
  • Continue preparation work for the construction of the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Storm sewer and roadway improvements continue

The contractors continued the storm sewer installation along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard north of the existing retaining wall, and they completed an asphalt pavement patch on Grand Avenue.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to continue the proposed roadway excavation and possibly frame and pour the proposed curb & gutter along a portion of the east side of Nippersink Boulevard, and to continue preparation work for the construction of the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Work on preliminary Stage I is complete!

The contractors continued the storm sewer installation along the east side of Nippersink Boulevard north of Grand Avenue, and they also completed paving the first layer of new asphalt pavement along the west side of Nippersink Boulevard near Grand Avenue.

Once the paving was complete, the contractor established a new traffic pattern (Stage 2) with traffic modified to one-way southbound along the west side of Nippersink Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Oak Street.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to complete the proposed storm sewer installation on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard, complete an asphalt pavement patch on Grand Avenue, and to begin preparation work for the construction of the new retaining wall on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard.

Curb & gutter and roadway work continues

The contractor completed the storm sewer installation along the west side of Nippersink Boulevard and began installation on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard. They also, completed pouring the new curb & gutter and preparation of the new road base along the west side along the west side of Nippersink Boulevard, north of Grand Avenue.

Next week, weather permitting, the contractor plans to complete the proposed storm sewer installation on the east side of Nippersink Boulevard and pave the first layer of new asphalt pavement along the west side of Nippersink Boulevard near Grand Avenue.
